Program Description

The Western Mass Youth Sports Jr NBA & Jr WNBA League is an exciting, action-packed sports development program designed for young athletes ages 4 to 17 and grades K-12. Our league provides a unique opportunity for children and teenagers to engage in the thrill of basketball while building essential skills in teamwork, leadership, and athleticism. Through expert instruction and a focus on player development, participants of all skill levels are able to grow, compete, and enjoy the game of basketball.

Official Jr NBA & Jr WNBA Experience: Players will wear official Jr NBA and Jr WNBA gear, enhancing the excitement and connection to the professional leagues. Participants will experience what it’s like to be part of the NBA and WNBA family, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Program Highlights

Age-Appropriate Divisions: Players are divided into age-specific divisions from Lil Ballerz to High School, ensuring balanced competition that promotes growth and development across all age groups. Divisions are organized by grades K-12, allowing for players of similar skill levels to compete against one another.

Exciting Matchups: Teams representing iconic NBA and WNBA franchises, such as the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Liberty, and Las Vegas Aces, will compete in dynamic seasons filled with thrilling games, exciting rivalries, and unforgettable moments.

Season-Long Development: With weekly games, practices, and skill development sessions, athletes engage in consistent, year-round training. This structured schedule ensures continuous improvement for both individual players and teams.

Focus on Sportsmanship: The Jr NBA & Jr WNBA League places a strong emphasis on values such as respect, integrity, and teamwork. Athletes learn the importance of character both on and off the court, building a foundation for success that transcends sports.

Lil Ballerz (Ages 4-6 in 2026):

Born between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2020.
U8 (Ages 6-8 in 2026):
Born between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2018.
U10 (Ages 8-10 in 2026):
Born between January 1, 2014, and December 31, 2016.
U12 (Ages 10-12 in 2026):
Born between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2014.
U14 (Ages 12-14 in 2026):
Born between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2012.

LEAGUE PRACTICE DAYS & HOURS

(Each team will have a set 1 hour practice time on Friday)

Practice Schedule:

Friday 5:30pm - 6:30pm

LEAGUE GAME DAY & TIMES

Game Schedule:

Fridays: 6:30p - 9:00pm

Program Highlights:

30-Minute Games: Each game lasts 30 minutes (2 x 12 minute halves), with a 2-minute halftime.
Eastern vs Western Conference: Teams will first compete within their own conference before the top teams face off in the knockout rounds.
Playoffs & Championships : All teams get a chance to compete in Playoffs and for the JR NBA / JR WNBA A or B Division Championship
CHAMPIONSHIP RINGS & SWAG (A & B Division)
Player Development: Coaches will focus on enhancing both individual and team skills in this competitive setting.
Community Engagement: Fans and families are encouraged to come out and support the players.

Game Structure:

All games are played every Sunday, ensuring a consistent and exciting schedule for participants and fans.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

In the event of inclement weather, the administrative team at Western Mass Youth Sports League administration will make a decision whether or not to hold practice or to play the game. The administration has the authority to cancel activities, events, practices and competitions in the event of inclement weather. Coaches or other school officials do not have the discretion to change these instructions.

Activities will be automatically cancelled if the area is under a severe weather warning. In the event of a severe weather watch, discretion is given to the league administrators.

In the case of a cancellation, the following actions will be taken to communicate the cancellation:

1. The coach will use his/her primary mode of communication to pass on information about the cancellation to the athletes and parents.

2.League administration will send an email notifying parents of the cancellation

3. The session calendar will be updated with the cancellation

Make-Up Policy:

It is at the discretion of the head coach in consult with the League administration to schedule any extra practices to make up for practice time lost due to cancellation.

It is a priority of the League administration to reschedule cancelled games. However, due to many circumstances, make-up games are not always possible and, therefore, are NOT guaranteed.

REFUND POLICY

Western Mass Youth Sports has a no refund policy once you pay the deposit or the full registration fee. In the unusual circumstance where your team is unable to play due to injuries, illness etc., we are happy to provide a credit to a future Western Mass Youth Sports session in 2026 for the amount minus the deposit, if we receive written notification two weeks prior to the tournament. In the unforeseeable scenario that we are impacted by COVID-19 or other virus-related events, including but not limited to, a mandatory quarantine and/or shut-down of “non-essential” businesses, we will be offering a credit to a future Western Mass Youth Sports session in 2026.

Western Mass Youth Sports Inc. - Spectator Fee Policy

Effective: 1/1/2026

As part of our efforts to sustain and grow the programs provided by Western Mass Youth Sports Inc. (501(c)(3) non-profit), we are implementing a $5 spectator fee for all attendees at games.

Policy Overview:

The spectator fee is set at $5 per person for all individuals attending games.
The fee applies to all spectators, including parents, family members, and friends of participants.
Children under the age of 17 will be admitted free of charge.

Purpose of the Fee:

To support the operational costs of the league and our facilities.
To ensure the continued success and development of youth sports programs in our community.

Payment Process:

Spectator fees will be collected at the entrance of the game venue.
Cash and electronic payments (via mobile payment systems or credit/debit cards) will be accepted.

Thank You for Your Support:

Your understanding and support of this policy are greatly appreciated. The funds generated from the spectator fee will go directly towards enhancing the experience for all participants and ensuring the sustainability of our programs.
